Well the little guy is 3 weeks old today! We have had a rough week and a half though. After the first week of having the perfect baby everything changed.... We went to the doctor for his 2 week check up and he gained almost a whole pound and looked great except for the occasional spit up here and there. The doctor recommended soy formula to see if that worked. Turned out that the formula was not the problem, because the spit up turned into vomiting every time he ate! Poor baby could not eat more than an ounce before he puked it all up. By the time Sunday came I was at the end of my rope! Monday we went back to the doctor and found that he lost 6 ounces in a week and my mothers intuition was telling me something more was wrong with him then just the occasional spit up problems. The doctor sent us to the hospital for an upper gi barium test... After 4 hours and constant vomit ting the concluded that he needed to be admitted and had something called pyloric stenosis. This is a condition where the pylorus muscle (at the bottom of your stomach) was so contracted that it could not release food or anything into the small intestines thus causing it to come back up and make him vomit. The surgery was scheduled right away for the next morning. He could not eat anything and was very dehydrated. That night was hell, he was so hungry and wanted nothing to do with any of us unless we had food! The morning of the surgery I was a mess. This is the second time I have had to endure giving my child to a nurse and them undergo surgery, a mothers worst fear. Even though Jackson was almost one when he had his first surgery it wasnt any easier! The surgery went well and now he is tolerating food and is back to be an agel baby! We are all sick and fighting colds so please pray that we get better soon and everyone is onmce again happy and healthyi Thank you to everyone for your prayers and thoughts during this difficult time! Here are a few pics of my little trooper in the hospital!
